Meet Your Farmers

Josh & Ashley Frost

Josh graduated from Hamilton College with a Bachelors degree in Hispanic Studies in 2008.  He lived and studied in Madrid, Spain.  Ashley graduated from State University of New York at Cobleskill in 2004 with a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Business Management.  Burdick Farms, owned by her grandparents; a dairy farm in Patterson, NY;  first helped spark her passion for farming.  She began working on a small, local CSA farm in Patterson in high school on which Josh grew up and also worked. After getting married in 2008, they worked for a vegetable farm in Pawling, NY, selling produce through a farm stand, farmers markets and restaurants. They always dreamed of starting their own farm and were able to realize that dream at the gardens of Tanrackin Farm in Bedford starting in the spring of 2011.  We started selling our produce from a farm stand that is located right on the farm.  Josh worked  as a high school Spanish teacher at Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, NY from 2010-2013; where we also lived and commuted to Bedford to farm. In the fall of 2012, a new addition to the family, Madison was born! Josh finished up the 2012-2013 school year, we moved to Bedford and Josh took a job as the Property Manager of Tanrackin Farm.  We acquired the use of the Burdick property in Patterson, NY which we began to grow and cut a hay crop off of 70 acres in the summer of 2013. In 2013 we also started a CSA distribution along with our farm stand/market.  In the spring of 2014 Mackenzie was born!  With our growing family we decided to hire a farm hand; Lena.  She was a great addition to the farm for the 2014 season. 2015 and 2016 have been great years for us!  We are slowly expanding and learning a lot.  It has been a wild ride so far!  We absolutely love growing food and are thankful to the Mancini family for allowing us to do so on their property.  We are excited to see what the next season will bring!  This coming season, 2017, we will be celebrating 7 years of growing produce at Seedswell!
